Pen-cap cutlery

Din-Ink is a concept design for office cutlery by Andrea Cingoli, Paolo Emilio Bellisario, Cristian Cellini and Francesca Fontana for the DesignBoom Dining in 2015 contest. The idea is that the caps will be made from biodegradable starch and fit over your desk-pen. Link (Thanks, Fipi Lele!)

obviously intended to foil metal detectors. Arrest these people!
Oh man! I so want! I can't count the many time I had plenty of pens on me but no eating utensils. And those cheap plastic eating utensils always break. At least this way my fetish for chewing on pens is somewhat civilized. Grunt.
two Bic pens make chopsticks
Great idea! Shoot! I use click pens.
#3: Most people probably don't think of this.
This is a GREAT idea! I'm just mad that I didn't think of it!

sweet ... but what happens when someone snaps off the little pocket-keeper-tab thing? (Is there a name for that thing, anyway?)
Perfect for eating risotto al nero di seppia.

(Flickr pic is liguine al nero di seppia, but you get the idea)
Awesome. Perfect for stirring coffee.
i feel robbed of 30 seconds of my life for staring at this. why cant they just use that starch stuff to make regular sized biodegradable throw away cutlery?
What, no spork?
Why have the extra 'tail' on these things? You know the little bit that lets you attach your pen to something like your shirt or a string or what have you so you know where your pen is, its just a tail on the cap that you can wedge something between it and the pen itself to make sure it stays there... but why keep those on these things simply as a stylistic device so that we know these things go onto a pen? Still its something I would so get a whole whack of honestly as this is a simple but amazing idea.
#11-- they have that little tail on them so that people who have chewed on their pens all their lives can have "dessert"
Or, slightly less orally-fetishistic, a toothpick.
It's a great idea, but I echo #6 Gyusan's concerns that with certain models of one-off ballpoints they can potentially break. Even if they don't leak, there's a chance of shards of clear plastic mixing in with your meal.
When I first looked at it, I said "Good idea!". But then I thought about where my pens go during the day (filthy desk, bottom of pocket, bottom of messenger bag, fall on the floor, etc.). Now I don't think I want this. I'll stick with my metal utensils, that I can stick in the dishwasher.
#9: They do.

My first thought as well. I'd avoid pasta lunga with that fork cap though!
