Goth kids at the Disneyland Carousel

Today in my ongoing series of photos from my travels over the years: this shot of one of the kids at the children's photoshoot at Bat's Day at Disneyland 2007, when thousands of goths converged on the Gloomiest Place on Earth for a day's eyeliner frolic. I've had some pretty memorable days at Disney parks, but Bat's Day is in a league all its own. Link

I'll probably never understand your Disney fixation Cory; but hey, whatever works.

Say what you will about the Goth subculture, but their fashion is awesome.

The lady with the parasol has the right idea. I'm tickled by the thought of all these goths going home with sunburns.

looks like a gothic lolita even showed up.

...Gothlings! XD

Totally agree with #3 there---parasols are a MUST.
Especially if you want to keep your naturally deathly pallor. :)

Here's the problem with encouraging your kids to be goths as children:

When they're teenagers they'll rebel and you'll end up with, I dunno, football players or something.

I've known kids that went through this stage in "high" school, or even university. It seems like an honest look, an expression of emotion. And for that reason, if I had a kid that wanted to express like this, I'd have them in therapy faster than you can say Depression. No healthy, happy kid wants to look like a corpse.

Poor kids. I blame their retarded parents.

Goths with a sunburn. HA!!! LOL.

Way to play dressup with your kids. That's some good parenting right there.

How things have changed. I recall very well being refused admission to Disneyland in the mid-sixties, on account of being one of those highly suspect 'long hairs'. Knotts Berry Farm was an unsatisfactory alternative.

I think the Goth kids are actually quite stylish.

And they certainly look better than I would wear when I used to play AT CBGB's in the 70's.

I suspect that the word 'default' frequently applies here. Don't hate the eyeliner. It wants to love you.

The bats have left the bell tower.

Can I just say that every time this picture pops up in another forum, it makes me laugh. See, I'm the mom of not only the mohawk kid, but also his pink-haired sister behind him.

The MM sticker is a birthday sticker. It lets you get free tortillas at DCA.

My kid's an honor student, he's in band. His sister is a girl scout. They're pretty normal kids, they just like to "dress up" to go to Disneyland for Bat's Day. The rest of the year they wear jeans and t-shirts.
