i saw these at the local grocery store on the 4th of july, and we cooked up a mess of mausburgers. and you know what? the maus is pretty damned tasty, actually...
I am wondering when they will come out with mouse buns and mouse shaped cheese and then you need a mouse cookie cutter so that you can have mouse lettuce and tomato too!
Anyone been following just how many millions and millions of pounds of ground beef products have been recalled this past year? It's put me off burgers, and that's a fact.
I look at this and I think, mmm, Mickey Burgers, now with E. coli 0157:H7. About as appetizing as rat burgers.
I'm a graphic designer working for Interbrand in Cincinnati. For the past two years we've been the design agency producing artwork for a joint venture between Kroger and Disney called Disney Magic Selections, an effort to rebrand some of Kroger's private label brands as kid-friendly, healthy, mouse food. I designed the DMS version of the Mickey burgers (not pictured in the post). We also produced artwork for Mickey-shaped buns and cheese!
I bought these for my son because he's not much of a meat eater. I thought it might make dinner more fun. He was all about them until a neighbor decided to start teasing him by telling him he was going to be eating mouse for dinner... obviously a neighbor who doesn't have kids of his own. The rest of the box is still in my freezer... occasionally I cook one up and feed it to my dog.
Don't be fooled, folks-- it's not MOUSE meat, but average grade RAT meat (of course, there's really no such thing as "grade A rat meat").
Get used to it, after the apocalypse we'll ALL be eating rat meat. I think they're quite tasty, and make a nice change of pace from the pigeons I've been eating lately.
While I love the idea of food in the shapes of pop icons (I know a few pop icons I'd like to eat), I was surprised no one commented on Cory's throw-away line - "... soylent brown is cartoon characters!"
re: the book 'Make Room! Make Room!' by Harry Harrison - later turned into the movie 'Soylent Green' w/ Charlton Heston, and Heston's classic line "Soylent Green is made out of people!" when he discovers Edward G. Robinson's character dies and is ... processed ....

Legotech - I think the better question is when we can expect to purchase Donald Duck Confit?
made with 80% premium grade mouse meat.
Why aren't the burgers he's flipping Mickey-shaped? Does that mean he's eating human burgers?

Mickey ate the ears off his own burger.
Cook's prerogative.
Cartoon characters! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Please: we simply MUST see scans of the enclosed "FREE Disney Stickers Inside" - I gots to know!

I'll take two Mickey burgers to go please. Oh, and an order of Girl Scout Cookies too, thx.

Rat burgers may yet be our best option.
Bon Apetit!
Hey, that's my font (Billy) used on the 'Mickey Burgers' title.
It seems like every week a new Disney product pops up with Billy all over it.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Disney for their ongoing support and mass exposure of SparkyType fonts!
Mmm. Cross-sections of char-broiled Mickey face.
One more reason to be grateful I'm a vegetarian!
Unbelievable...Mouse hamburger ;) They forgot to put cheese on it....ha ha ha....
Who's idea it was produce that?? ;)))
Thanks for the post
Aww! I saw these at the local grocery store last month and was going to submit it for Cory's viewing pleasure. I guess Raphael beat me to the punch!
At least now we all know what to expect at all future BoingBoing cookouts!
I think I'm more disturbed by Pirates Burgers than Mickey Burgers:
