Fractal art contest winners

The winners of this year's Fractal Art contest are on display -- Benoit Mandelbrot is the chairman of the event! There are so many jaw-droppingly brilliant images here that I couldn't pick just one to illustrate this post, so I chose three: Lenora Clark's Royalty, Ulli Behrendt's Modern Times and Jock Cooper's 62971. But there's about a zillion more I almost included -- there's a lot to love here. Link (Thanks, Paul!)

I'm happy to own one of the winning entries: Bubble Growth, by Jussi Härkönen (http://www.fractalartcontests.com/2007/showentry.php?entryid=372)
His prints are available at http://www.violetindustries.com/ . Cheaper than a blotter sheet of smilies, and lasts longer too!
Good examples of mathematics in nature. All these patterns come out of a core of order, but with degrees of chaos built in. When looking at art like this I'm sure the Universe must have some interesting pattern-building software.
Great fractals ! But I would like to see them about 4x bigger. Any suggeastions ?
More enjoyable while listening to the Jonathan Coulton's song "Mandelbrot Set":
Pathological monsters! cried the terrified mathematician
Every one of them is a splinter in my eye
I hate the Peano Space and the Koch Curve
I fear the Cantor Ternary Set
And the Sierpinski Gasket makes me want to cry
And a million miles away a butterfly flapped its wings
On a cold November day a man named Benoit Mandelbrot was born

As #3 said, does anyone know of a place where one could get these in a higher resolution?
though I respect the "nature" of fractal art, it's too bad it's so gaudy and ugly. I think I've seen all of these posing as art hanging on Second Life walls?
There is a fascinating knitting book by Norah Gaughan titled "Knitting Nature" (2006; ISBN 1584794844) which features patterns based on fractals and other natural shapes. I'm currently knitting a sweater that spirals up the torso. Well worth a look if fractals and DIY both pique your interest.
All beautiful specimens of the art. I am not a fan in general though - pretty to see once in a while, but I believe they are too cold and alien looking to not give me the creeps hanging on my walls. Still, quite beautiful.
