Action figure modder and his creations

Today on in my series of photos from my travels: this action figure modder and some of his creations, following a panel at the San Diego Comic Book Convention last July. The action figure modders were amazing -- real scientist hackers, full of trivia about the best way to manage different kinds of plastics and so on. Plus, they made beautiful stuff (here's more shots from the panel). Link

I love custom action figures. I'll wager there's more than a few professionally-produced toys that mightn't have come to be if their producers hadn't realized there was an interest and that it would translate to 3 dimensions. To date I've only made one myself, but it's a hobby in which I'm always aspiring to become more active; for me, the challenge is more about producing some of the most obscure characters, ones likely to NEVER get their likeness in plastic.
That all said, you can never have enough Spider-Man 2099 toys.
...beats being a Furry.
YES! a TECHNO VIKING action figure!

I find it rather peculiar that the Thor looking character is shiating an Aquafina bottle. The look on his face as he tries to relinquish his mighty foe is quite inspiring. Or disturbing. Or disturbingly inspiring.
