Too bad the video is only available in the formats of Real or Windows Media. At least it's not Flash Video though.
Seriously, why do the majority of websites not use MPEG-4?! It's an open and widely implemented standard -- by both QuickTime and Windows Media Player, as well as VLC. It works for everyone, without being ass-slow with wonky interfaces like Flash video.
(I'm not interested in discussing today the patent issues for why Ogg Theora is the ideal format. Let's at least concede that Real and WMV are even more restrictive than MPEG-4.)
However, I'm a fan of Chris Anderson's works and enjoy seeing this.
I've had it. I hear about hundreds of new books every day and my problem isn't spam (Cloudmark Desktop solves that nicely), it's editor hucksters. Lazy editors, promoting books to the general public because they can't be bothered to find out who on my staff, if anyone, might actually be interested in what they're selling.
All editors pitching their latest, greatest "tech revelation" to the general public get ignored on first abuse.
That's enough out of Chris Anderson don't you think? Is he expert in any of the things he writes about, because I'm not convinced he's particularly good guide for the layperson.
He talks about the scarcity of time and patience in this piece. I'd like back the time I wasted reading the long tail.
Since the cost of duplicating books (and audiobooks) is near-zero, perhaps he'll create a viable business plan for underwriting the creation of the original in the first place. (Instead of rent seeking through copyright.)

Turnabout is fair play.

cannot wait to read this book
There is another talk by him on this subject from a PopTech conference:

How much will the book cost?
For example:
* Joint-Stock Company
* Dominant Assurance Contract
* Idea Futures Market
* Author the book online and collect AdSense revenue
I think he is going to give it away. I heard it'll be ad-supported.
For those who are interested, I have uploaded the video registration of Chris' keynote at Nokia World 2007:
