Today in my irregular, continuing series of pix from my travels: this very handsome "ZEN" tag from the Shibuya hills in Tokyo, written on a bamboo guy-wire cover attached to a utility pole. Link

This "Zen" tag has been ubiquitous throughout the Tokyo area for years. See my 2004 photo of a Zen tagged air vent at:

How do you know it's spelling 'ZEN'?

It could be spelling "NIIIZ"

You got it all wrong.
It clearly reads "ZIIIN".
