Good comics-related stuff from Buenaventura Press
Buenaventura Press, the wonderful comic book publisher, just sent me their newsletter and it's full of nifty gift ideas.
Shown here, from left to right: UnInked: Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Work by Five Contemporary Cartoonists, edited by Chris Ware; Private Stash: A Pin-Up Girl Portfolio by 20 Cartoonists, and the SOF'BOY Tote Bag ver. 2003 by Archer Prewitt.
And this is just the tip of the dead-tree berg at the Buenaventura Press shop! Link

The first one looks particularly intriguing. A few years ago, Last Gasp published a Dori Seda collection that included photos of ceramic pieces that she'd done that were great, and that I wouldn't have seen otherwise.
I live in Phoenix and I visited the UnInked exhibit at the Phoenix Art Museum countless times, including an artist talk with Gary Panter and a live music performance by Ron Rege, Jr.'s band Lavender Diamond. It was a really wonderful, intimate exhibit with lots and lots of good stuff. I have yet to plop down the cash for the catalogue, but I've thumbed through a copy at the museum gift shop and it's a handsome little book.
I'm glad to see you guys are covering more comics-related stuff, Mark, especially the more esoteric material that the entrenched legions of Big Two fanboys begrudge shelf space because they don't feature impossible anatomies in dayglo ensembles that showcase every possible bulge.
Sigh...wish my friends liked comics so I could actually buy them things that would be fun to shop for. Ho-hum.
