SFWA's farting rainbows tee
The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America's latest t-shirt is a dandy: "SFWA: Farting Rainbows Since 1965." Apparently the motif is a "long story" but proceeds from the shirt go to the SFWA emergency medical fund, which helps writers who take ill -- the fund was an enormous comfort to writers like George Alec Effinger, who battled chronic illness while uninsured for many years.

You can read the story behind the shirt in the comments thread on this post about the shirt on John Scalzi's blog: http://scalzi.com/whatever/?p=178
To save folks for looking for it, I'll quote it. (with permission)

“I asked earlier about reasons for joining and staying with SFWA. The best answer I’ve seen all day was posted in the newsgroups tonight.
While talking about SFWA’s PR today in the newsgroup, I made the following comment:
‘I’m not trying to say we need a bunch of SFWA cheerleaders running around sprinkling happy dust and farting rainbows at people.’
Within a few hours, we had Nebula-winning authors volunteering to chair the Farting Rainbow committee. And then the T-shirt link was posted…
Why stick with SFWA? Because it’s full of delightfully insane authors who do things like this.”
I gotta say, this shirt makes me laugh and laugh. I totally want one and I don't even wear t-shirts.
Reminds me a bit of Puking Rainbows...
Good thing it's not a more anatomically accurate image or they'd have to change to the NSFWA.
When I saw this on Scalzi's site, I laughed so hard I just had to buy one. Asses, rainbows and science-fiction? How could I not own one!
I should have it in 3-5 business days.
Apparently Google thinks Scientists do something similar but with better...'follow through'?
