Clockwork bug sculptures from Insect Lab Studio

Insect Lab Studio makes gorgeous sculptures of bugs made out of clockworks, with gears and springs integrated right into the designs. These are heartbreakingly awesome. Link (via Watchismo)

They don't just make sculptures of bugs, they make sculptures out of bugs!

I went to the site and got extremely creeped when I realized that those are real insect parts in combination with the pimped out additions.

Look at the picture again. Those wings. Those hairy legs. Ewwww, I say.

Heartbreaking indeed, if these beautiful creatures are being killed just for this. The old post referenced above mentions that he used "found" insects in the beginning, but it's very doubtful that he limits himself to that now. Website says he gets "specimens" from "collectors"--it's highly unlikely that those specimens are always already-dead when they are "collected".
