Coin art: parody quarters, united American continental currency
Coin designer Daniel Carr mints small private runs of "fantasy currency" (the Amero is the notional currency of the equally notional Union of North America) and "parody quarters" (a quarter depicting Daniel Carr in cool shades, an East Virginia quarter bearing the legend, "Tell WV to get off my back," the Oregon "recycling" quarter,
the "Keep away from Indianapolis" quarter", etc).

My goal with these coins is not to endorse a Union of North America or a common "Amero" currency. I fully support the United States Constitution, and I would not welcome (in any form) a diminishment of its provisions. I expect that these coins will help make more people aware of the issue and the possible ramifications. I leave it up to others to decide if they are in favor of, or against a North American Union. And I encourage citizens to voice their approval or disapproval of government plans that impact them.

The idea of a North American Union is really scary because I'd hate not to have a Canada to flee to in case of a fundamentalist / neo-conservative putsch.
This guy, Daniel Carr, has been doing coin designs for a long time, and designed the reverse of the New York and Rhode Island US quarter coin.

He also does software for this kind of thing.

I do like the designs for the Amero better than what we generally have now in circulation.
Cue music "SIT like an Egypian ... "
Snopes.com once linked to this guy's work, while debunking a (widely?) circulating bulletin/email about a conspiracy to economically unite all of North America with a single currency.
The purpose of the NAU is to dissolve your constitution and enslave you forever. Don't let this happen!
Hahaha!!
Subtle design there.
Not only is LIBERTY contained is a box made out of fasces, but some cunt is even sitting on it. Tee hee hee hee.
When I hear former Mexican president Vicente Fox talking up something akin to the NAU during his book tour, I don't consider that "debunked." I consider that "very possible and a bit scary." I don't want to come off all Lyndon LaRouche, but a serious reevaluation of our monetary system seems increasingly in order.
...Now, can he design new currency for Venezuela, depicting the liberation of that country from Hugo "Fidel Jr." Chavez? Preferably with his being led to the gallows on the reverse?
Obligatory Ron Paul post?

There was a good op-ed about the "amero conspiracy" in the Boston Globe, linked here: http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/articles/2007/11/25/the_amero_conspiracy/
Being a pedant for a second, the plural of 'euro' is actually 'euro', so the plural of 'amero', as a lot of its potential users would speak Spanish or French, would be 'amero'.
East Virginia?
We prefer to refer to it as The Commonwealth, thank you.
