why is it that incomprehensible, self-mastrrabatory "design" sites get attention?

bootleg objects? bootleg what, and ugly end table?
day 60? click on a link! go to a page where nothing happens!
nl design? click on a link, get referred to another link! yea!
the apartment? watch a slow loading vid! wtf do these guys do for money anyway? wait tables?
