Framework: ambient recordings podcast

When I paint or draw, I'm able to listen to music or talk on the phone without losing my concentration. In fact, I like to talk and listen when I'm working on art.

But when I write I don't like listening to music. And of course, I can't talk and write at the same time. (The only person I know who can do this is Cory. I have seen him do it.)

But I think I'd be able to listen to Framework, a podcast of ambient field recordings. It has city sounds, gurgling streams, industrial machinery, children playing, and other sounds arranged in a way that seems to soothe, rather than jangle my nerves.

I have been listening to the Framework podcasts for a long time now, and I find them fascinating.

Truthfully, Mark, Framework is an even better broadcast when you actively listen. It discourages me a lot to always find people so willing to "tune out" even when they're "tuning in"...

Great link, I'm looking forward to checking that out in detail.

Mark, are you sure that even calm, ambient-ish instrumental music would destroy your concentration? If not, try soma.fm. Personally, I like the 'groove salad', but they also have 'cliqhop idm' and 'drone zone', for example. No distracting commercials, ever.

I don't have to have music running in the background when I work, but when neighbours or coworkers occasionally emit nasty intermittent noise, having comfy closed headphones with soft ambient music provides an instant sea of calm.

I tend to have bluemars.org, minimalist ambient music on when working etc. Plus I listen to cryosleep when I go to sleep.

Wonderful link, thanks very much.

Found this site recently, had some great stations. I find looking for good internet radio a pain so this was gold.
