Winged bike clips

Images Default Us Catalogue Large 19057 Droog Design co-founder Gijs Bakker created these winged trouser clips that not only keep your pant leg from getting snagged by your bike's chain or crank but also bring a bit of Mercury's style to your ankles. Made from reflective PVC, the Windrider Bicycle Clips are $15 from the Conran Shop.

Why would you need two?

Mscot: For symmetry, of course. We're talking winged bike clips here -- it's all about style.

...that's actually a problem, people getting pantlegs stuck in bicycle chains? First I've ever heard of it....

@3, yeah. when I rode my bike to work I used rubber bands around my ankles to avoid it. but I wear loose-fitting jeans, I'm guessing it's not much of a problem for those that don't.

the solution to this problem has always been a contest between what makes you look lamer: rubber bands/something similar or a chain guard.

These things have a name, in antiquity. They are called "talaria". Hermes used them, and Perseus. Of course theirs worked better.

I think this would encourage stupid people in cars
to scream or throw things.

I also have fought the pants-eating bicycle chain monster. I just pegged my pants for extra dork style points.

I bet Mike Jittlov would love these.

I kind of want a pair just because... also, if I run, I feel like I would fly.

They look like a stiff breeze could twist them enough to get caught in your chain. Oh, the irony.

It's not so much the pant leg getting stuck in the chain, it's the chain making the pant leg black with grease. This occurs on both legs since wind is wantonly indiscriminate in its direction, the bastard. Naturally this is a bigger problem in an office than it is at Zeitgeist or Gestalt.

i think they look snazzy. i might get myself a pair, and i don't even have a bike. :o)

I've been using a mini bungie cord/tie down for several years. It has hooks so you don't have to fit it over your foot, and can get it off faster if you're trying to get somewhere fast.

I always just tie a bandana around my leg when needed. I would lose those little things too easily.

Gotta love the "10-12 WEEKS" delivery estimate.

What, is everyone here afraid of showing a little leg? Just roll yer pants up.
