Cows escape at McDonald's
Eight cows jumped from a trailer when the driver pulled into a McDonald's in West Haven, Utah on Monday. Apparently, the trailer's rear gate coincidentally popped open just as the truck pulled into the burger joint. According to the Associated Press, the round-up operation was informally dubbed "Operation Hamburger Helper." How nice. Link (Thanks, Lindsay Tiemeyer!)

...Of course, this was the first time that real meat had been present at a McDonald's since 1969!
Ugh, that must've been like a train pulling up to Auschwitz for those cows.
It doesn't say whether they were on their way to the slaughterhouse when they stopped for those burgers.
A Texas rancher once lectured me adamantly on how neither she nor anyone else she knew of would traumatize a cow prior to slaughter. It is known to adversely effect the taste of the meat and even the slaughterhouse crew had ways of not upsetting the animal, she said.
Despite her insistence, the norm seems much different.
Eight cows? Bah! That's not even enough to produce a single burger.

Happy cows make happy meat
The kind of cows we love to eat
And we use every bit but the feet
We pour on the spice
And it starts to taste nice
But make sure you ask for well-done!
It's at Bun, Bun And Run
Tastes like food
But much more fun!
Wasn't this a Gary Larson cartoon?
Did one of them wear a beret and shout "Viva la revolucion!"?
We may have an uprising on our hands. :o
This may be a worldwide coordinated effort, since in La Plata (Buenos Aires province, Argentina), 14 cows escaped from a truck. 1 died by a train and 2 was hunted down for eating. 11 was captured back.
