Sonic Screwdriver Doctor Who flashlight

It seems like about eight of the devices in my pockets have some kind of built-in flashlight, but even so, this Doctor Who "sonic screwdriver" replica torch is quite tempting, especially at $13 plus shipping. Link (via Wonderland)

I bought a similar item from ThinkGeek about a month ago, price was a dollar more.

I think it's the same product, though the LED is not blue but UV.

Also, there is a sound effect when the light is activated, and the package includes "psychic paper" and two different pen nibs -- one regular, one visible only under UV light.

I use my UV sonic screwdriver as a torch, plus it make a nifty wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee noise

I often use it while rooting around in PC cases for stray jumpers, impresses kids if I'm doing a home PC fix

UV version would be better; you could look for hidden UV ink marks on things, check out UV tattoos, etc.

VMOS is correct, amazon.co.uk has it in stock, slightly cheaper, ignoring the extra shipping costs to get it to the states (I've successfully ordered from amazon.co.uk to the USA in the past).

Plus the edition VMOS links to includes an extra which I didn't receive, the "30-page Dalek / Grallifreyan codebook". The packaging has no indication that there should be a code book.

Further research on Amazon.com reveals three different versions -- a "torch" with blue LEDs and no sound effects or accessories, the UV version I have, and the cheaper/better UV version with the code book.

just to point out, this is just a flashlight. there is another toy of the same thing that has UV for invisible ink, and a pen, which is what Kevin is referring to, but this one is not it.

I have one of these in my nightstand. Very bright and small enough to easily keep in a pocket (much smaller than the TV prop).

I just bought one the other day for a chrissy present (as well as the tardis money box)from the ABC shop. It comes with 'invisible paper' and the UV light/pen. You can get all sorts of stuff here like a Dalek webcam and a K9
