Driver threatens slow police officer
Teresa Walker, 44, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was annoyed that a police officer who was writing her a speeding ticket on Saturday night seemed to be taking too long. So while he was preparing the citation, she called the police department and complained. According to police, she said that if the officer didn't hurry up, she'd shoot him. Now she's in jail. From the Cincinnati Enquirer:
Terrence McNamara, the attorney for Walker, said today in court that Walker insists her car was pulled over because she is married to a black man and police were using racial profiling.Link (Thanks, Charles Pescovitz!)
Walker, an Arby's manager, doesn't remember saying she would kill Police Officer Jeff Bley, the lawyer added, but does remember saying she'll sue him.

i can see the possibility for the jackassery going both ways on this one. really hard tell without better facts. Hopefully they recorded the call.
"Sue" sounds a lot more plausible than "shoot". Though addictive, roast beef and cheddar sandwiches probably don't have crack in them.
Dammit.
Excuse me.
I have a lunch order to take back...
There are a couple of blank spots in this story.
Was her husband with her in the car?
Did the cop have prior knowledge that she was married to a black man?
If the answer to either of these questions is no, than she may just be bonkers. If the answer is yes, maybe she's onto something, but only if she said sue, not shoot.
She doesn't remember whether or not she threatened to shoot him? Hmm. Wonder if there's a dashboard video of this altercation.
Methinks BoingBoing needs a "Cincinnati" label in the spirit of Fark.com.
Stories like this make me miss old Cincinnasti, my hometown. No... no, wait, that was just gas. I am glad to be gone!
If I recall correctly, some of the off-duty
cops on copswritingcops.com were annoyed that the cops who were ticketing them took a long time to write the ticket.
Now that would be a story- Off-duty cop shoots/tasers fellow officer for being too
slow writing the ticket.
It really is annoying that they take a long time
to write a ticket, but I don't mind. People who
manage their time poorly have no right to endanger
others by driving to fast.
Because the cop who pulled her over obviously knew the skin color of the man she was married to? What a fruitcake.
The best advice I was ever given as a young and somewhat radical individual was to be very polite when interacting with cops. It came from an ACLU spokesman who gave a talk at my school.
"Yes Officer, no officer. Am I being arrested? I'd like to speak to my attorney please?" That's about all you NEED to say to a cop.
Debating your ticket won't help, fighting physically, won't help, threatening to sue/shoot/smooch won't help. Get to court, get a lawyer, go to the press afterward.
The ACLU's lawyer put it best "You can't win on the street, you can only lose more and more."
Except that I don't care about the cop, the law, or the ticket. I want to get on the road and get where I'm going NOW. That's the only reason to have a road in the first place, and if a cop doesn't like it, he deserves to get shot.
Flamingphonebook, the day you murder a kid because you were speeding down a neighborhood street will be the first day of your new life as a broke-ass convict, arrested and sued. I'd add "and you'll have to live with it for the rest of your life, knowing what you did" but you sound like a cretin so maybe that part's not going to be a problem for you.
