That's not a band-saw. A band-saw is a power tool; the blade makes a continuous circular band that goes around and around really fast.
That is one of those big two-man saws used by lumberjacks of old; I don't know a specific name for it.
That is a whipsaw.

When I worked for the Forest Service (many moons ago), we called them "misery whips". You need some skill, or they can be a real pain to use.
That's awesome, but I can't find a pattern on the site. If she's not going to sell them, I'd really like her to give it out. I can't crochet, but this makes me want to learn.
