Punk Rock Rumor #1424- The Lead singer from The Exploited has a contract clause where he cannot appear sans mohawk, and has been wearing something similar to this for years.
Localized Punk Rock Rumor #321, overheard in Cincinnati, Ohio sometime in the early 1980s: "I heard the Nazi skins are gonna show up at the Exploited gig tonight and chop off Wattie's mohawk!"

My guess is that this is "spirit gum". If so, it's pretty secure on your head, but I wouldn't want to have to glue my hair on every day. It stinks to high heaven, and you'll need a supply of the spirit gum remover to go with the spirit gum, which they don't mention.
It's not hypoallergenic and the solvent fumes are probably not terribly good for you in the long term.
The other option is to use superglue. Never remove it. PUNK FOREVER!
Dang! You mean I didn't have to shave my head and dye my mohawk purple?
My wife's going to be pissed.

Gyuzo of the Tokyo Shock Boys uses a stick-on removable mohawk. I'd never seen him without the mo' until I saw them live in 1998 and he neatly peeled it off for various parts of the act that required a bare scalp. It was obviously attached fairly well given some of the things he did with it on, but it seemed to come off and reattach with ease again afterwards.
I really hope this mohawk toupee link inspires a "Goth Talk" version of BoingBoingTV!
I can't be the only one who instantly thought of They Might Be Giants' song, "Purple Toupee," can I? It's a delightful ode to a rebellious generation's loss of youth, memory and hair. Once again, life imitates art.
