Led Zep says "oh fine ALRIGHT" to digital music sales

How Many More Times will I wonder aloud, "damn, dude, why can't I purchase this Led Zeppelin song as a digital download?" Not many, according to this NYT article. No need to be Dazed and Confused, the band just announced this week that fans will be able to Bring It On Home as a digital file starting November 13. What Is And What Should Never Be, however, are the plethora of Led Zep ringtones also planned. I don't mean to Ramble On, it's just that I have a Whole Lotta Love for this band, so the news amounts to a sort of Celebration Day. It's been, what, like Ten Years Gone since people started buying music online? The Song Remains The Same, it's just that you'll be able to buy it on iTunes or Verizon's music service now. And remember: No Quarter, they'll be priced more like 99 cents. Link. After reading about the ringtones, I'm feeling Sick Again.
Bravo!
Is Led Zep running for governor of California?
'Cause I don't want to see the title references running amok in any other context ever again.
Very nice, Xeni, very nice indeed. Well played.
Also, whoever created that website is a little bit sketchy asking for donations and saying they were "inspired" by Joel Veitch.
no zep ringtones for me but i'll gladly steal their music.
i'm still sour about the time those innovative thieves SQUASHED little roger and the goosebumps for daring to record stairway to gilligans island.
Xeni's a genius. We are not worthy, etc.
Of course, this means iTunes will probably dump all the crappy soundalike recordings they've had up there as "tributes to Led Zeppelin." Grab the awfulness now before it's gone forever! Horrify your friends!
So, is there this whole mass of people who love Led Zep, but don't already have CDs? Maybe there is. I dunno.
I have the same question about the Beatles.
I don't know what Xeni's taking today, but I want a bottle of it.
Viking Kitties have been a fave video in our house for years. My kids can't get enough of it and I'm pretty sure they think The Immigrant Song is actually called Viking Kitties. (Suh-weet!)
I personally love Led Zep, and have owned their albums a couple of times over. I've left them in cars and had them stolen, had the cars, towed and found them gone, etc. It would be nice to be able to download the whole catalog, even piecemeal, at one consistent bit rate.
Great post (That's The Way), but Your Time is Gonna Come.
I've been looking for this stupid Viking Kitties for years (though admittedly not very hard). Dear lord I love Joel Veitch - am I the only fan of the late great Spong Monkeys of Quiznos fame?
Oh yeah, the Led Zep. They're alright too I guess.
If you can't score tickets to next month's Led Zep concert (or even if you can), Lez Zeppelin is a lot of fun live.
Yeeeow! I l0ve you!!
