If you hadn't stated it was a hairdryer, I would have taken it for a (cheap, "novelty") vibrator.
One of these was used in the movie Innerspace in 1987 by the character "The Cowboy"
I actually had this hairdryer (and used it) when I was a kid. My grandparents gave it to me.
i was just about to ask if rodney dangerfield hadn't used one of those in some movie. i will now whip myself with a nail-studded strap 30 times for confusing him with jackie mason.
