Stoner pisses on dying woman, shouting "This is YouTube material!"

Anthony Anderson,a 27-year-old stoner from Hartlepool UK, happened upon a dying disabled woman in a doorway. He pissed on her and covered her with shaving cream while his friend recorded the whole thing with a cameraphone. On the recording, Anderson shouts "this is YouTube material." He'll be sentenced for "outraging public decency" on Oct 22.
He tried to rouse her by throwing a bucket of water over her, before urinating on her and covering her with shaving foam. The incident was filmed on a mobile phone.

She was later declared dead at the scene, the cause of death being given as pancreatic failure.

Jail is to good for him, but what about the friend with the cameraphone?

Of course, the appropriate YouTube video response to this will be the Durham Massive organising a devastating and unusually well-targetted Happy Slapping incident.

Hay! Don't piss on me, bro!

It should be noted he was very drunk and high at the time. He should still receive the maximum penalty, of course, and his actions are beyond belief, but his total insobriety make his actions slightly more explainable if not excusable.

Why describe him as a "stoner"? What difference does it make if he smoked marijuana...high or not, it was not the drugs that made him commit such a terrible act.

This was not a case of stoner "reefer madness", but a stupid drunk.

Woah, I was sure this was a story from The Onion.

If any mood altering substance contributed to his
behaviour it was the alcohol that he drank. An
overwhelming majority of 'stoners' are considerate
people who would never do such a thing.

I hope the guy gets some jail time out of this.

Surpassed only, perhaps, by 3 murders of homeless elderly men in Chicago last week.

"His actions did not contribute to her death"!? Gimme a break. How about, "if he had called for help like a normal, human worthy of life, she may have made it"- or in the least been made comfortable? Instead, this piece of garbage degraded her in her last moments of life and quite possibly, I venture to guess, hastened her albeit, possibly imminent, death.

And what's this crap "insobriety make his actions slightly more explainable if not excusable"? Are you kidding? So, you think the state of drunkenness or highness is a free pass for one to do anything and everything they normally wouldn't do while sober? Gimme a break. What about drunk drivers who kill people with their cars while driving drunk? Let them all go? No!

Mr. Anderson and his little group of friends who weren't only present but enjoying and filming the scene should have the book thrown at them. In fact, I venture to recommend the UK courts create a very special sentence for them, one especially degrading, dehumanizing and lengthy. These pieces of trash shouldn't be out in the public for a very long time, if ever. I've been totally smashed before and I can tell you that I've never hurt anyone during my drunkenness. Sober or drunk, one's actions speak volumes about their capabilities.

Mr. Anderson is just one more sociopath who should be locked away and/or sedated until rendered harmless to the public.

@jackcastile

I don't think you read or understood my comment. I said "he should receive the maximum penalty" and you interpreted this as "a free pass" or that he should be "let go." Being on drugs does explain odd behaviour, but it does not excuse it - I don't see what is so confusing or controversial about that.

I also think it would be inappropriate to come up with a punishment that exceeds what is currently the maximum by law - what he did was heinous, and there is no doubt he deserves a very severe punishment, but laws become meaningless if we decide we can alter the punishments post hoc - in the wrong hands, that becoems very dangerous very quickly.

Odd, sure, but totally despicable behavior like this? No way. Any decent person could be on a bowlful of mushrooms and drunk on a fifth of rum, and they wouldn't do such a thing. This is not a story for the Reuters "Oddly Enough!" section.

Finally, a legitimate candidate for an ASBO!

(Far more deserving than the old crank whose bad behaviour consists entirely in being sarcastic to his neighbours).

Lets hope he does some jail time rather than getting a fine. He might find the other inmates less than understanding.

Pot doesn't make people into animals - (Reefer Madness was sensationalist propaganda, in case you didn't know) it makes them kinda slow, paranoid, and overly careful. Alcohol tends to remove inhibitions but not plant the seeds for horrific actions.

This guy's got serious behavioral problems. Beyond what the legal system punishes him with, I hope he seeks psychiatric help.

And yes, I agree that his cameraphone holdin', torture-encouraging friends should be punished as well. I would definitely have stopped a friend from doing something like that. I can guarantee it.

I don't see why BB chose to use "stoner" in both the headline and the story----almost seems like you're trying to demonize users of cannabis.

Nobody thinks this kind of behaviour is typical of said users.

Take a look at this

Shouldn't you say a DRUNK pisses on dying woman. This behavior is more typical to alcohol users than stoners.

I see an ASBO in someone's future!

All joking aside, this is abhorrent behaviour, and I'm sorry but I don't think inebriation explains it. Like many kids in their 20s, I imbibed more than my fair share of controlled substances during that decade, and the most horrible thing it ever made me do was wear some pretty awful rave gear. It would never even occur to me to do anything other than try to get help for someone who was dying. And I don't think I'm an exceptionally moral or upright person; I'm pretty average in those regards.

This woman likely couldn't be saved--pancreatic failure is pretty much a death sentence--but her last moments were made sickeningly humiliating and uncomfortable by this piece of human trash.

Cory...

This really isn't what I expected from BoingBoing. If I wanted to see the worst of humanity, I'd turn on the news. We KNOW people sometimes suck asstunnel. We KNOW it happens all the time.

I agree with previous comment, this is not my idea of "wonderful things".

(grumbling) Used to be BoingBoing was about cool gadgets and the wonders of technology. Now it's all pissing on dying people, students getting tazed, and TSA nutjobs.

@ Calton and Robert, who made the argument that this kind of story doesn't exactly fall into the category of "wonderful things".

To be fair though, this story was posted a mere two minutes after Chair made from toy plush pandas, which is, you have to admit, pretty durn wonderful.

Not to make light of an act of utter atrociousness, but Hartlepool is famous for the fact that during the Napoleonic war, a monkey was washed up, alive, on the beach from a French shipwreck.
The locals, believing the Monkey to be a French spy, hanged it, after a short trial.

I'm really offended by the use of the word "stoner" in the title. The guy was drunk too, and "stoner" implies that he was a regular pot smoker, which is neither stated nor implied anywhere in the article. Pot is not a substance that causes aggressive behaviour - unless this guy was in a fit of paranoia and hallucinating, I'd bet dollars to donuts that if he'd not smoked the joint beforehand he'd still have done exactly what he did. Peer pressure is worse than weed when it comes to stuff like this.

As a many-year reader and to echo what some other people are saying, I think the tone of the headline and the subject of this post are not at all 'Boing Boingish'. What got into you Cory?

Stoner? Jack Black's a stoner, this guy's a drunken ass, This is just strange... anyone home Cory???

I suggest that he, and his camera phone holding friend, be sentenced to be tied up, lying on the sidewalk in front of that doorway, for 1 hour everyday, for a year, with a sign that invites everybody to come and pee on him. The modest can bring their pee in a container and pour it on his head.
