Osama Bin Laden's hair care tips for men

Wired's Danger Room blog points us to the oddest headline of the week, spotted in The Times of India -- "Osama Bin Laden is Dyed and Alive," referencing OBL's newly darkened beard-do on his latest vlog. Link. And here's the video, on YouTube, right next to skateboarding pugs and phonecammed booty dances. Man, the internet is weird. Tomorrow is 9/11.

It is verboten for a Muslim man to tint his hair with anything but henna.

This article originally said "Tomorrow is 9/11" at the end. It was an excellent point, and you shouldn't have cwrdly removed it.

@Nathan: There is no cowardice here, as you'll see if you reload -- just an updating/editing error. We're humans here, and sometimes we goof.

Sure he dyed his beard, but has he made a unicorn baby in second life yet?

here in the UK I saw a headline for the same story: "I have dyed and come back to haunt you!"
Yeah, it was a tabloid.

is it just me or is this obviously fake? the real question is whose faking it, the CIA or al-Qaeda?

I hope so, Xeni. It was there, then it dissapeared, then it came back. Did someone thing the reference was inappropriate, but then got overruled?

Of course, what am I doing, calling you guys cowards? I respect the Boing, always have. Just don't want to see you backing off from perhaps strong statements.

This world is getting to be a mighty weird place, and this post perfectly summed up how I feel about the state of the world today. When I reloaded the page to show my wife and ask her how she felt, the reference to 9/11, which I felt tied the whole thing together, had been removed, and I was a bit angry. There's too much self-censorship in the media, and it's so unnecessary, that it drives me mad.

Thanks for correcting it. I appreciate.

Definitely not Osama. A fake. There's a nice page on the Internets showing this to be the case.

@Nathan -- this is a little like explaining one's underwear choices, but here's what happened.

Sometimes I might tweak a post, add something, change a word or two for clarification, add a pic, correct a typo, and so on. The posts are fairly fluid in that respect.

In this case, the original post did not include that last line, or the image. I refreshed posts in Ecto (the editor I use, is sometimes wonky but mostly great) and added the image, and the final line, did some other tasks, accidentally deleted the post, and re-posted with the image but without the final line. Realized the goof a few minutes later, re-posted the last line.

Aaaaaand there you have it.

The new video is apparently fake:

http://www.infowars.net/articles/september2007/100907BinLaden.htm

It's old video that's been re-dubbed, which would explain why bin Laden's beard is no longer gray.

Not the real Osama,a double. I doubt a radically religious Muslim would dye his beard black and give it a perm too. The slant of his eyes isn't even the same as the original on the left.

Someone grabbed a long-faced Arab and threw a theatrical beard, turban, and look-alike cloak on him. And yet people still fall for it, worst of all the US Intelligence agencies who find it politically convenient to claim the video authentic -- if they didn't create it themselves.

We're proud you are picky with your underwear :)

Dyeing one's hair with anything but henna may be a violation of Islam, but when discussing Osama bin Laden or any retard who follows him, that's a moot point. Murder and lying are also strictly forbidden by God, according to the Qur'an. Ergo, bin Laden, who often claims to be doing God's will even as he flagrantly violates it, is nothing more than a charismatic blasphemer who thinks that he himself IS God (or Mohammed). The same applies to his followers. I'd issue a fatwah against him... except that since fatwahs are basically death marks, and murder is forbidden by God, fatwahs are strictly the practice of blasphemers and infidels. However, if anyone doesn't care about such things and wishes to pummel the bastard to death, I'll gladly hold him down by his dyed-in-the-wool beard.
