Come to Fort Wayne, Indiana, Cory! I know there's not much here, but we really need to hear what you have to say. At least most of us do -- you're preachin' to the choir for me, but that doesn't mean I want to hear you talk.
Whadd'ya say? At least Indianapolis... Or even Chicago...
So as a champion of internet free speech will you be taking this opportunity to speak out about China’s poor record in this area. Or will you follow Google and Yahoo and tow the totalitarian line so you can operate in China?
Cory, what's your take on the rampant copyright violation in the PRC, e.g. thousands of dollars of pirated software on a DVD that's sold for a few dollars? Do you think the authorities should crack down on it, or tolerate it? Just curious.
Please try not to get arrested.
I'll be there with bells on. Can I buy you a drink while you're in town? A brimming glass of baijiu will put hair on the chest.
I'll be there. What else are you up to in Beijing?
I second Will's offer, a few drinks are necessary.
Adrian
Doing anything else in China? Going to be anywhere near Shanghai?
Hey, Anonymous! Yup, I was planning on showing up, lauding the Chinese government for its excellent record on human rights and accepting payment in the organs of political prisoners. After all, with the enormous sums of money I'm getting from showing up at a bookstore and speaking for free, I can retire, an unprincipled billionaire.
Eosha, I'm in Shanghai right now! Got a busy schedule, though -- no socializing! Thanks for the offer of a drink, Will, but the same's true for Beijing... Hope to meet you at the reading, though!
Why not check out an internet cafe there and browse around a bit to bring home some eye-witness censorship scope reports...
At least you don't risk being beaten up or jailed for reporting on it back home.
I've been behind the Great Firewall for a week now and it's driving me bonkers. I thought Singapore and Uganda's internets were a PITA. Thank god for Tor and FoxyProxy.
