What is the point of these posts on the main BoingBoing blog? If someone is interested in reading all the latest posts on the Gadget blog, why wouldn't they just read that blog? A huge list like this of text links is tedious to read.
I am loving the new gadgets blog and the new design as well. Keep up the good work.
Alan -- these posts let readers now about the cool stuff at gadgets.boingboing.net. When we post them, a lot of people end up clicking the links so we know they are useful.

Re: the sex change stuff. Does anyone else find this at least somewhat disturbing or simply "not pleasant to read about"? It was his/her decision but I would expect that many people people are changing sexual identities rather spooky. FYI, this is meant to be an inquisitive comment, not flame bait or phobic commentary. Considering that BoingBoing's tagline is "A Directory of Wonderful Things", the topic of sex change may seem wonderful to some but remarkably disturbing or simply not pleasant to read about for others. IE, it takes away the "wonderful" and replaces it with "don't want to know about that, read about that or be exposed to that because it grosses me out." ??
Why doesn't my login allow me to comment on gadgets.boingboing.net? Have I been banninated before ever posting?
Wow, the comments on the item about Larry/Lana Wachowski are exactly the kinds of enlightened, unignorant commentary I'd expect from fans of The Matrix.
Hey, Michael Brutsch --
I haven't banned you on either blog. I don't believe I've banned anything yet on gadgets.boingboing.net -- not even comment spammers.
June, are you referring to my Anon comment where I incorrectly typed "people" twice in a row? FYI, that mistyped line should be:
It was his/her decision but I would expect that many people would view changing sexual identities as rather spooky.
Now, if your post is referring to my comment, what do you mean?
Thanks.
No, I was refering to the comments on the original, linked post. I hadn't even read yours. Although I find your "Eww, gross!" attitude kind of sad and ignorant as well. And BoingBoing is writing for a huge audience, many of whom don't share your attitude. If something "grosses you out", how about you just move on to something that doesn't?
Sorry, but you asked.
HOT DANG! I've been disemvoweled.
For what it's worth, wouldn't dis-en-constant-ing work better? You can still pick out what I was harumphing about.
Ok June. I'm glad we're discussing this. Many of my straight friends, more male than female, are strongly identified with their sexual inclination. It is unconsciously part of who they are - as is the fact that the inclination will not change. This is not sad. This is the way that a large amount of males come preprogrammed. It is also not a decision. Actually, to call this sad could be considered as not fully being tolerant of the way we are. In this, there is a strong identity in that which is male has male behaviour and characteristics and that which is female has female behaviour and characteristics. Transposing these qualities violates the sense of that which is understood to be accepted. In that, it can be very repulsive, a fundamental violation of that which we accept as a standard. To treat our viewpoints as inunformed and sad is also somewhat ignorant. No offense intended, of course. In all, this is a topic that fully requires some discussion, more than a comment on a blog may allow.
