Soveit Gen-1 mouse for sale on eBay:
This eBay seller is parting with a first-generation Soviet mouse,a marvel of bad industrial design, plastic, and brutalism. Perfect! Someone should manufacture these.

(Thanks, Bill!)
Hmm, actually looks fairly ergonomic compared to some of those early Apple/Commodore/Atari mice. It's amazing how far industrial design has come in twenty-odd years.
I don't see how much more this is a "marvel of bad industrial design, plastic, and brutalism." than the original Apple mouse (of which I have one here) or the original IBM mouse.
Uh, yeah, because there's no better use for Earth's resources than mass-producing ugly, painful-to-use, obsolete mice from the USSR in the service of a moment's whimsy. Never mind that most of them would never sell and they'd just end up in landfills.
Well, the article is about sat-nav gone wrong in Wales .. where is the "Soveit Gen-1 mouse" ?
Cory,
There is a problem with your link...
;-)

Could they have made it look any more like a sex toy?

there is also, in addition to the link problem, a problem with your spelling: Second occurance of SOVIET you spelled SOVEIT
In Soviet Russia, mouse clicks YOU!
tinyurl. live it and love it.

This is definitely post-soviet device. Price is too high for soviet times. 1992-1995 maybe.

Heh, even the soviet mice had 2 buttons before Apple.
It looks kind of similar to the hockey-puck-like DEC Xterm mice I used in the early '90s.
And as industrial design goes, it's better than Apple's iMac mouse.
This one ugly mouse for sure!
ironically it's actually from 1998

KIINT-
There isn't much irony in Cory's russophobia; more a lack of fact checking.
