Web radio stations go silent today in protest
Many internet radio stations and conventional broadcasting networks that offer online audio streams are shutting down today in protest. Organizers say the "Day of Silence" serves to focus attention on the recent, dramatic increase in royalty fees -- many webcasters say the cash hike will drive them offline.
