Timeline: backstory on NYT's boy-camwhore piece, $2,000 check


Regarding a $2,000 check paid to the teen subject of a 2005 teen camwhore profile in the New York Times, reporter Kurt Eichenwald "has some splainin' to do," says Gawker. The blog today published a purported timeline of previously undisclosed backstory: Link, but beware -- the timeline came from a commenter, not a Gawker editor, and it's not like anyone factchecked it.

The unfolding scandal doesn't mean Eichenwald will lose a recently-won ethics award: Link (via Romenesko).
