The Red Balloon
Hanan Levin of growabrain says The Red Balloon (1956) is one of the first movies he ever saw. I think it's one of the first movies I ever saw, too. It's been close to 40 years since I've seen it and I'm surprised how familiar it seems. The entire film is available on YouTube.
According to The World of Kane the director, Albert Lamorisse, also invented the board game Risk. Link
