HOWTO make a Star Trek on/off switch

This great HOWTO illustrates the process of homebrewing your own Star Trek: The Next Generation On/Off switch. I'm thinking it would be a great controller for a garbage disposal -- tell your kids that it's a "transporter" and encourage them to "beam down" their left-over vegetables (but caution them strongly against "transporting" their hamsters and siblings, of course).
