Death of a 76 Ball, Encino, California

The gloomy weather was appropriate for the unhappy event I photographed a few days ago: the replacement of a resplendent 76 Ball with a hideous new sign at an Encino service station. The feeble bump on the new sign is a shameful mockery of the grandeur of the extinct orb. More about the 76 Ball here.
