Sad fate of the last tree in Ténéré wastelands of northeastern Niger
Athanasius Kircher posted a short but heartbreaking story about the last tree of Ténéré, in northeastern Niger. The single remaining tree of what had once been a forest was knocked over by a drunk driver in 1972. A creepy metal sculpture was erected in its place. Link
