OpenStreetMap maps Isle of Wight, Manchester next

The OpenStreetMap project to create a copyright-free map of the Isle of Wight was a success!

Simon sez,

By way of a follow-up on the heads-up of last weekends OpenStreetMap Isle of Wight mapping, pleased to see that Steve Mathieson has written a piece for the Guardian covering the weekends events.

Progress after the first day was highly impressive (jpg) and it was good to see the local MP Andrew Turner come along to show interest and support.

Good news for landlubbers. You can get involved and create copyright-free maps of Manchester this coming weekend (Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May).

Link (Thanks, Simon!)
