BMW vision system uses thermal imaging to spot people, animals


This BMW video demos a new thermal-imaging-capable vision system that spots people, animals and objects in the path of a car before the headlights render them visible.

Update: Rich sez, "Cadillac has had thermal imaging since 2000, and puts it in a heads-up display to boot."

Update 2: Mrzero sez, "Cadillac NO LONGER uses thermal imaging. The first model (only DeVille) to offer it was in 2000. The last model to offer it was 2005. Here's a blurb about it."
