Game-server flooded by tourists hoping to witness difficult mission
One of the parallel universes that make up the World of Warcraft (WoW) game has been overrun by tourists who hope to witness the outcome of opening of a new section of the game. WoW, like many multiplayer games, distributes the load across multiple servers, and players choose which server they'll play on.
Ahn'Qiraj is an expansion to the WoW world, but it isn't available to a server until the players on that server band together and complete a series of difficult tasks (WoW is justly famous for creating missions that require massive interplayer cooperation, turning the gameplay into a vast social negotiation to band together with strangers for mutual benefit).
The Medivh server is closest to completing the mission and players from other servers are flooding the world to witness the momentous occasion, which is reportedly upsetting the Medivh natives:
Recent days have seen a flood of level 1 alts on Medivh as players from other servers make the pilgrimage to Sithilus in order to watch Ahn'Qiraj finally open. Additionally, the wait queue of this previously modestly-populated server has multiplied to over 500 and new guilds going by such names of "OPEN TEH GATE", "Aq Opens" and "Get In Queue Please" have swelled in their ranks.Link (via Wonderland!)
