This week, RU Sirius has BB pal V. Vale from Research Publications on his show, talking about the great English novelist J.G. Ballard. Here's a snippet from the show:

RU Sirius: There is sort of a conservative side to him [J.G. Ballard]. He goes off about internet porn several times. And he seems sort of genuinely shocked, like an older guy might be genuinely shocked…. He was interested in some of the more extreme forms, urination, S&M…

V. Vale: Oh yeah. The tendency is towards more diversification in anything. And of course you're going to get hyper-niche stratification.

RU Sirius: And once you've seen something you're going to want to see something more outrageous or extreme.

V. Vale: …This is not punk. I was reading about porn sites that claim to be punk and I said, 'You're full of it.' Punk was all about doing it yourself. It's not about watching other people.
