TV: now with twice as much sex!

Broadcasting and Cable magazine reports today that the volume of sexual content on television has nearly doubled in the past year:
According to the study of 1,000 hours of all genres of programming--excluding news, sports, and kids shows--across the four major broadcast nets, several top cable nets and a couple of stations, 70% of shows had some sexual content, averaging 5 sex scenes per hour.

(...) Depictions or strong suggestions of intercourse have actually gone down, from 14% of shows to 11%.

Heh. "gone down." reg-free Link

Reader comment: Christopher E. Granade says,

I wanted to point out that the study is a bit... skewed [Ed.: snort]. As Wonkette points out, "the study counts as a sex scene talking about it, kissing and fondling, and intercourse when those are the emphasis of a scene." So it may not even be sexual depictions that have gone up, but just the willingness to discuss sexuality. Personally, I wonder about results from any organization named the Kaiser Family Foundation.
