RIP, Hal Clement
Harry Stubbs -- AKA the golden-age science-fiction legend Hal Clement -- has died. He was a gentleman, a talented writer, and he always had the time of day for beginning writers. We were on panels together at Ad Astra, the Toronto science fiction convention, a couple times, and he always made me feel like I was worth listening to. I saw him and had a brief and friendly conversation with him in September at the World Science Fiction convention. He was very old, but sharp as a tack, and friendly as ever. Goodbye, Hal.
