ElcomSoft expands into Microsoft e-books, too

Great piece in Wired News this morning about ElcomSoft, the employer of Dmitry Skylarov, the programmer who was arrested last year for describing the internals of Adobe's e-book encryption scheme. ElcomSoft if writing new software that opens up "protected" Microsoft and Adobe e-books, and trying to figure out if they're in for more legal trouble.
"We tried to contact Microsoft ... describing the software we're going to release, and asking what do they think about that.... Will that violate any Microsoft patents, copyrights, licenses or whatever," Katalov said. "(Microsoft) responded that, 'Microsoft's legal department does not give advice to third parties.'"
