Downtown Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, is almost entirely wired with Gigabit Ethernet, built around a mesh of fibre lines that have been pulled along the city's trolleycar right-of-ways. Businesses have enough bandwidth for VoIP, videoconfernecing and Internet access with more to spare. The network uses low-cost Debian Linux boxen for mail and other services.
